Wait.

To most things, I don’t see any benefit to reacting instantly. Even if it’s an opportunity or a disaster, I nowadays would rather miss it than to react in a hasty way.

In the long-run, it’s worth it to develop this delay before making any significant decision.

It’s simple. In the long-run, there are thousands of decisions to be made, and what determines the end result is the quality of these decisions. Thoughtful decisions are better decisions.

For example, you just received a bad news about your business. Should you react with “fuck!”? Should you demonstrate calmness? It’s a decision. Increase its quality by getting people used to your delayed responses.

Also note that whenever you take action, you’re automatically triggering the consistency bias, which makes it even harder to adjust a hasty decision.
